Community Compassion Reaches the Williamson County Detention Center
Sometimes the smallest acts make the biggest difference.
This week at the Williamson County Detention Center, nearly 300 inmates were reminded that they matter. Through the generosity of Danny Castillo, a non-denominational minister, and The Bridge Church of Spring Hill, 299 gift bags were prepared and donated for those currently incarcerated. Each bag included a pair of socks, a bag of chips, a Rice Krispies treat, and a devotional. Simple items, given with genuine care and compassion.
Danny ministers weekly at our Detention Center and others across the region. When he asked if he and his church could provide gift bags for our facility, the answer came quickly and wholeheartedly. And when he heard the news, he was overwhelmed with gratitude, moved to tears by the opportunity to serve.
This is truly a remarkable gesture of compassion and concern for those who are incarcerated, but nonetheless still human beings. Some are awaiting trial and have yet to be judged. Others have been convicted and are paying their debt to society because of a “bad” thing they did, which doesn’t necessarily mean they are all “bad” people.
We are grateful to Danny Castillo and The Bridge Church for their generosity and for showing what community support and servant leadership truly look like.
