National Prescription Drug Take Back Day Recap

Published On: 04/28/2025

This past Saturday, April 26, 2025, the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office proudly participated in National Prescription Drug Take Back Day — and thanks to our community, we collected an impressive 159.5 pounds of expired, unused, and unwanted medications!

Why does this matter? Too often, prescription drugs left in our homes find their way into the wrong hands — leading to dangerous and sometimes tragic situations. Medications thrown in the trash can be retrieved and abused or illegally sold, and flushing them down the toilet contaminates our water supply.

Events like Take Back Day are one simple, effective way to help prevent drug misuse and protect our community. The DEA sponsors this event twice a year, providing a safe, responsible way for people to dispose of medications they no longer need.

A huge thank you to everyone who participated and helped make a difference right here in Williamson County. Together, we can continue fighting the drug overdose epidemic and keeping our neighborhoods safe.
