This morning, Independence High School’s Criminal Justice program hosted a powerful and emotional Mock DUI Crash event to show the real-life consequences of impaired driving.
Junior and Senior students gathered on the grounds to witness a simulated crash scene involving multiple first responders. The Williamson County Sheriff’s Office, Williamson County Fire & EMS, and Vanderbilt LifeFlight worked together to demonstrate the emergency response to a DUI crash — from field sobriety testing and rescue efforts to a dramatic helicopter transport.
Special thanks to WCSO Lieutenant Greg Willhelm for leading the DUI response portion and to everyone who made this event possible.
This event was a sobering reminder that one wrong decision can change everything. We hope it inspires students to make safe and smart choices as prom season approaches.
