🚨 COMMUNITY ALERT: JURY DUTY SCAM

The Williamson County Sheriff’s Office has received several reports of scams involving individuals pretending to be law enforcement officers, court officials or federal agents.

⚠️ These scams are becoming increasingly sophisticated.

Scammers may claim that you:

• Failed to appear for jury duty or a grand jury subpoena
• Have an active warrant for your arrest
• Are under investigation by law enforcement or a federal agency
• Have bank accounts or other assets that are about to be seized

They may even send official-looking arrest warrants, subpoenas or seizure documents containing government seals, case numbers, names of real judges or law enforcement officers, and other information designed to make the documents appear legitimate.

They may also manipulate caller ID so the call appears to come from a legitimate law enforcement agency or government office.

REMEMBER:

🚫 Law enforcement will not call and demand money to keep you from being arrested.

🚫 Courts and law enforcement will not require you to pay a fine using gift cards, cryptocurrency, payment apps or wire transfers.

🚫 An officer or federal agent will not ask for your banking information in exchange for stopping an arrest or seizure of your accounts.

🚫 Do not assume a call or document is legitimate simply because the caller knows personal information about you, uses the name of a real officer or judge, or sends paperwork that looks official.

✅ If you receive one of these calls, STOP. HANG UP. VERIFY.
