For Immediate Release
April 10th 2024

Franklin, TN – The Williamson County Sheriff’s Office would like to express our sincere gratitude to Celebrate Recovery’s Chaplain, Keith Crow, and special guest, singer/ songwriter Dylan Jarvis, for their recent visit to our detention facility.

Dylan shared his incredible talent and personal journey from addiction to recovery through heartfelt lyrics and soulful melodies that really “struck a chord” with both participants and employees.

“It’s so encouraging to witness the positive impact this program and people like Dylan Jarvis have on the men and women in our custody,” said Detention Sergeant Ashley Lindquist. “Dylan’s success story is such a beautiful reminder that with determination and the right resources, they too can overcome challenges and build a brighter future.”

Williamson County Sheriff’s Office Announces
Inmate High School Equivalency Diploma

The Williamson County Sheriff’s Office is delighted to announce the graduation of five incarcerated individuals who successfully obtained their high school equivalency diplomas through our partnership with the South Central Tennessee Workforce Alliance.

When asked his opinion of the program, Sheriff Hughes said, “Correctional education is known to have a positive influence in decreasing recidivism, but more importantly, it improves self-confidence, open doors, and changes lives. You can’t get much better than that.”

This educational Program allows adults who left high school before graduation earn their high school equivalency diploma. Participants take an initial assessment test, receive classroom instruction based on their academic needs, and complete a standardized exam called HiSet.

Program Coordinator Terrie Payne reports that nearly twenty individuals have obtained their high school equivalent diplomas while in custody in Williamson County, a number she hopes to see drastically increase in years to come.

The Williamson County Sheriff’s Office is proud of these men and women and equally as proud to offer this opportunity as part of our inmate reentry programs and services.
Congratulations to each of you!

Photo: Within the first month of assuming his new position, Sheriff Jeff Hughes expressed his pride in congratulating the latest graduates, while also taking the opportunity to speak words of encouragement to those still progressing through the program.

MARCH 21ST IS WORLD DOWN SYNDROME DAY!
The WCSO Helps to Raise Awareness on WDSD!

Did you know that people with Down Syndrome have an extra copy of the 21st chromosome? In other words, they have three copies of chromosome 21 instead of the typical two. Since there are three chromosome 21s, World Down Syndrome Day is held annually on 03/21!
But why wear crazy socks? Well, it turns out the chromosome karyotype (a picture of the stained chromosomes under a microscope) looks just like striped paired socks! 🙂 So, let’s put on our craziest socks, celebrate what makes us different, and shine a spotlight on awareness for our friends, neighbors, and loved ones with Down Syndrome! 🧦
