WCSO K9 Unit Celebrates a National Champion Win and Outstanding Team Performances At The United States Police Canine Association (USPCA) Patrol Dog National Trials
We’re proud to highlight the outstanding performance of our Williamson County Sheriff’s Office K9 teams at the United States Police Canine Association (USPCA) Patrol Dog National Trials. This year’s event was hosted by the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office in Florida, where approximately 70 K9 teams from across the country competed from November 9–14, 2025.
Four of our Patrol K9 teams, led by Lieutenant Mike Grandy, represented Williamson County with professionalism, skill, and determination on the national stage. This year was especially exciting, as Deputy Sam Race & K9 Kilo and Deputy Dean Nunes & K9 Dexter earned the opportunity to compete in their first-ever national event—an impressive accomplishment for two young K9 teams with a strong foundation for future success.
We would also like to recognize several remarkable individual achievements from the event:
🐾 Sergeant Hayden Smith & K9 Titus
• Exceptional decoy work for four dog teams
• 3rd Place – Obedience
• 7th Place Overall
🐾 Deputy Shaun Stein & K9 Jasper
• Perfect Score – Article Search
• Perfect Score – Suspect Search
• 2nd Place – Obedience
• 2nd Place – Criminal Apprehension
• Terrance Patrick Cahill Award (1st place combined Obedience & Apprehension)
• 638.5 out of 640 total points
• 1st Place Overall – 2025 USPCA National Champion (Top Dog Award)
We are incredibly proud of each of our handlers and K9s. As well as Lt. Grandy (Lead Trainer) and Sgt. Smith (Co-Trainer). Their commitment, training, and teamwork truly reflect the excellence of our K9 Unit and our dedication to serving the people of Williamson County.
Please join us in congratulating your Williamson County Sheriff’s Office K9 Unit!
