Deputy Cole passed away peacefully on June 15, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of decades of public service, mentorship, and unwavering devotion to his family, faith, and community. A proud veteran of the U.S. Air Force, Richard went on to serve 25 years with the Franklin Police Department and an additional 10 years with the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office.
He was more than a peace officer—he was a mentor, Scoutmaster, Explorer Post Leader, church deacon, and a steady presence in the lives of countless young people across Middle Tennessee. His contributions earned him the prestigious Silver Beaver Award from the Boy Scouts of America, a symbol of his lifelong commitment to shaping future leaders.
Deputy Cole was a pillar of the Triune and Franklin communities, a man of faith, integrity, and heart. His leadership didn’t end with his badge; it extended to the youth he guided, the church he served, and the family he loved.
