Evidence
The Evidence Section serves as the secure and centralized repository for all property and evidence collected by the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office in both criminal and non-criminal matters. This division is responsible for the intake, documentation, storage, preservation, and lawful disposition of all items placed into agency custody.
The primary mission of the Evidence Division is to maintain the integrity, chain of custody, and accountability of all recovered, evidentiary, lost, found, or abandoned property. Proper evidence handling is essential to supporting ongoing investigations, ensuring successful prosecution in criminal and civil trials, and enabling the timely return of property to rightful owners when appropriate.
Through rigorous adherence to established protocols and legal requirements, the Evidence Section upholds the highest standards of security and professionalism, ensuring that all items are preserved in a manner that withstands judicial scrutiny and protects the constitutional rights of all parties involved.
