The National Society of the Sons of the American Revolution Presents WCSO Deputies Public Service & Heroism Awards
This past Saturday, two of our deputies were honored by the Lieutenant Andrew Crockett Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution for their outstanding service to the citizens of Williamson County.
Deputy Laura Wiessing received the Public Service and Heroism Award for her lifesaving actions on December 22, 2024.
Deputy Wiessing was dispatched to I-65 near mile marker 60 for a cardiac/respiratory arrest involving a 16-month-old child who had suffered a seizure and was not breathing. She immediately began CPR upon arrival, and within moments, the child’s pulse resumed and he began breathing again. Thanks to her quick, decisive actions, the child made a full recovery.
Adding even more joy to this story, Deputy Wiessing and her husband adopted a baby on Christmas Day, just three days later
Detective Sergeant Paul T. Lusk was recognized for his dedicated work protecting children as a member of the Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force.
Since joining ICAC in 2017, Detective Lusk has tirelessly pursued predators who exploit the most vulnerable. In 2024 alone, he received and worked 82 cyber tips, executed 43 search warrants (assisting on five more for other agencies), and made 14 arrests. His work led to the conviction of a suspect in possession of over 30,000 images of child sex abuse material, who will now serve 10 years day-for-day. Detective Lusk also maintains our Digital Forensics Lab and continues to stay ahead of emerging threats through constant training and education.
We are proud to congratulate Deputy Wiessing and Detective Sergeant Lusk for their extraordinary service, dedication, and the tremendous impact they make every day.
